AKR FACILITIES

AKR is a PADI Gold Palm 5-Star Instructor Development Center and boasts the following amenities:

- Modern fleet of three Custom Pro 48 and seven Pro 42 dive boats
- On-site recompression chamber and staff physician
- Dive equipment rentals
- PADI continuing Educational Program
- Convenient dockside equipment storage, fresh-water showers and rinse tanks
- Extensive shore diving in lagoon or Front Porch reef
- Dolphin dive and snorkel opportunities through Roatan Institute for Marine Sciences

Upon arrival, guests will be assigned a boat for the length of stay, each staffed with a divemaster and captain. This ensures divers see a variety of dive sites throughout the week without repetition, and enables the staff to get to know each diver’s respective needs.

Many of Roatan’s dive sites are located within a short boat ride from Anthony’s Key Resort – in fact some are just a short swim from the beach of Anthony’s Key. Twenty-seven Caribbean diving sites are located from West Bay in the south to Man of War Cay, with Sandy Bay and Anthony’s Key Resort conveniently located in the middle. Several large wrecks submerged near the resort.

If three boat dives daily and two scheduled weekly night boat dives don’t quench your dive thirst, AKR’s backyard lagoon and bay will. Particularly convenient for guests staying on the private islet, the dive shack on Anthony’s Key is staffed and equipped with air tanks for easy beach access to “Front Porch” reef, a vital area of the reef ecosystem often overlooked by recreational divers.

In addition to administering the dive operation, the dive shop has a full array of dive and snorkel gear available for rental on a weekly or daily basis. They have ample stock of regulators, gauges, BCD's, wetsuits, and computers, so there is no need to reserve equipment in advance. Tanks, weights and weight belts are included in the package.

Daily dive schedule

8:30 a.maaaDive boats depart for first single-tank dive

This schedule allows for surface intervals of approximately 45 minutes while boats return to AKR. It also provides divers the flexibility to miss an early or late morning dive if desired, without missing the boat.
